This building is an old cement factory. The factory was built during the First World War by Ørsten Cement- and Betongstøperi. They operated until 1923, when they went bankrupt. After this, Grepa and Mjelva Fabrikker took over the property. The company mainly manufactured stoves. Grepa operated on these premises until 2006, when they moved to an industrial area outside the town centre.
Today the old factory building is used as an art gallery by the local art society. The building is considered to a cultural heritage of local value, symbolizing the industrial history of Ørsta.
