Ørsta, a typical small Norwegian town, also known as «the white town», bases its prosperity on small industry and lies at the end of Ørstafjorden surrounded by the beautiful Sunnmøre Alps. The centre has everything you need. Vikegata, Ørsta’s new pedestrian precinct with seats where people can sit and chat. Three new shopping malls, Fjordtorget, Ørsta Torg and Amfisenteret, boast more than 60 shops, cafes and places to eat. In the summer cafes and restaurants serve food and drink out of doors, giving the place the feel of a bigger town and creating a pulsating street life – places like the art and culture café Fru Svendsen, Fugl Føniks Kaffibar and Viking Fjord Hotell and the new Ørsta artgallery, which in addition to a variety of exhibitions also houses a permanent xhibition of the work of the world-famous artist Olav Strømme, a native of Ørsta.

Ørsta has an artificial grass pitch, a stadium for football and athletics, an indoor swimming- pool and a bowling centre. Ørsta Bowling is part of the Fjordtorget shopping centre, and right next door you will find the gift shop Patina AS with its huge selection of rose-painted souvenirs.
